About Stafford and Stone Green Party
We are the local branch of the Green Party for Stafford and Stone. We cover the Stafford Borough area which includes part of the Stone Parliamentary Constituency (Stone, Eccleshall, Barlaston) and the Stafford Constituency which, in addition to Stafford town includes Hopton, Hixon and the Haywoods to the East and part of South Staffs District – Penkridge and surrounding area. We have over 100 members.
The North Staffs Branch covers Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle Borough. Our values and policies can be found on the National website but in essence combine a profound concern for the environment, especially global warming, with the belief that social justice must be the foundation for everything we do, as a society.
Creating a system where no one fears hunger or homelessness, where we have a health service owned by us and providing the best healthcare free of charge, having an education service which does not penalise people for learning, where public transport is publicly owned and provides a cheaper alternative than cars : these are the goals that we in the Green Party want to achieve.
We meet every last Wednesday of the month, usually in The Vine Hotel in Salter Street. The business part of the meeting is from 7 until 8pm and this is followed by a discussion on a topical issue.
